Austerfields 40th Birthday Party. This was the 40th Birthday of the Austerfield Study Centre, a good reason to celebrate. Sadly the council is having to close it to save on its budget, and this is scheduled for 18.7.13. But, happily the council has agreed to allow it to continue as a Social Enterprise the very next day, run by Sue from the Mosaic Trust and volunteers from the village. A good day indeed. Dave and Lesley, Sandra, Peter, Mark and Paul and Elaine. The highlight was the installation of an auxiliary power unit to augment the diesel engine.

The plan was to go to the Boat Inn at Sprotbrough for lunch, and unusually it worked, a fine meal. A walk round Sprotbrough Flash, up the hill and down, about 3K. Then an ice cream and lots of puddings the girls had prepared before. Photos by Paul Booker and Peter Smith.
Hayfield School runs a GCSE course on Astronomy, which started in the September of 2013. During the time the telescopes were set up, sever.
Mayflower Day, to celebrate the departure of local boy William Bradford and friends to the New World to avoid persecution in the1690s. But this is now, and it was held on the 5th of May 2014. A sort of garden party with stalls and side shows. We were there with both domes open for solar observations and photographs on show.
