Tunney Brooks Fighting Pirate Ship. Coach Brooks was the longtime football, baseball, and basketball coach at Lumberton High School. He spent his summers teaching swimming lessons and serving as manager of Woodside Pool. His career at Lumberton High School spanned over 30 years. Captain of the baseball and basketball teams at Wake Forest University in 1952 he also represented the USA in the Pan American Games as the catcher for the baseball team.

Each and every piece of this ship was created in my shop. The AG Tunney Brooks Pirate Ship. Was a brig of the U. navy during the First Barbary War and the War of 1812. She served the United States until being captured by the Royal Navy in 1814.

She is a 104-gun first rate ship of the line of the Royal British Navy, laid down in 1759 and launched in 1765. Displacement - 3,500 tons Overall Length - 227 ft. Compliment of 850 crewmen and officers.

I am calling this the La Couronne I because I built it TWICE. My First Scratch Build - La Couronne I. Here are the plan sheets for this historic French war ship I found on the internet. printed them off and began making sawdust without the first clue what I was about to get into. Took part in the battle of Guetaria in 1638.

My Second Project - La Couronne II. On November 24, 2008 I posted these shots of my second scratch build. Compared to the first model, I would say this is a considerable improvement. Thursday, July 24, 2014. So my friend Chuck Passaro was kind enough to share PDF files of the plan sheets from his Model Shipways kit, which I had printed locally. turned on the lights in my shop, dug out all my tools from storage, and started making some sawdust. Great to be back in the shop again. The primary reason for taking these pics was the celebration of completing the planking of her hull. Yes, it is Miller time! Rail stanchions being added.

This model was originally built in 1978, and was my first attempt at working with wood. After all these years, I am re-visiting her in an effort to make numerous technical corrections in her structure and to incorporate as much detail in her features as possible.
