Daves HMS Victory

She is a 104-gun first rate ship of the line of the Royal British Navy, laid down in 1759 and launched in 1765. Displacement - 3,500 tons Overall Length - 227 ft. Compliment of 850 crewmen and officers.

Daves Mini-Victory

This model was originally built in 1978, and was my first attempt at working with wood. After all these years, I am re-visiting her in an effort to make numerous technical corrections in her structure and to incorporate as much detail in her features as possible. La Couronne I

I am calling this the La Couronne I because I built it TWICE. My First Scratch Build - La Couronne I. Here are the plan sheets for this historic French war ship I found on the internet. printed them off and began making sawdust without the first clue what I was about to get into. Took part in the battle of Guetaria in 1638.

La Couronne II

My Second Project - La Couronne II. On November 24, 2008 I posted these shots of my second scratch build. Compared to the first model, I would say this is a considerable improvement. Here are the two models together. My first lesson in scale. Detail becomes considerably easier with larger scale. Did I learn something here? Wrapping up the hull planking.
