It was my 8th-grade history teacher, Mr. Danhausen, who started me on my life-long obsession with World War II. Elwood Llewellin Garrett was an American businessman in Manila at the time of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. This is his story, as he recorded it, of living under Japanese rule in an enemy-occupied foreign land.

On November 21, 2009, four Rotarians and their three guests made the trek to Cooperstown, New York, to turn over the mitt to the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum. The entourage was met by former Chief Curator Ted Spencer. Spencer, named after legendary Ted Williams, is a walking encyclopedia of baseball history. Spencer spent almost two hours with the Rotarians sharing stories of baseball, history, and Americana.
