Thousands of labouriously shaped pieces of paving and roofing slate are patiently nipped and cajoled into shape and held together with waterproof mortar. This is an unfinished crozier that is a bit more literal than the one below. Just needs some sandblasting, buffing and oxidising with a galactic brew of well chosen acids. These pics dont come nearly close enough to conveying the subtley of what was actually happening, but I had just come out of the gallery after marvelling at the tones in some Victorian era paintings - greys, salmon and pinks when I stumbled on this on the way back to the car.
