STEVES BIRDING

A record of my birding wanderings around Merseyside and elsewhere plus anything else that interests me. Tuesday, February 10, 2015. Moore nr 10th Feb 15. A bittern in flight over the eastern reedbed and kingfishers darting about there also. Lots of gulls to look at including a colour ring herring gull. According to webring it has been rung in the Isle of Man. A nice 1st winter yellow legged gull also. A Harris hawk was flying around the car park as I was leaving. Shining Tor Peak district 7th feb 15.

Axe Birding

Wednesday, 12 August 2015. Enjoyed a superb ringing session yesterday morning with 43 birds trapped at Lower Bruckland Ponds. I never knew this place was such a fuel station for migrating passerines, but clearly it is. The more ringing I do the more I realise field counts are way off the mark, especially when it comes to migration. It was mostly Warblers; 11 Chiffchaff. I really hope someone .

I call it Birding but visiting Antelope Island is so much more than simply birding. It was a wonderful day even though it rained much of the time. Here are some pictures of our day, and a list of birds and other animals that we saw.
