Tuesday, March 30, 2010. My first attempt at barefoot running consisted of running across a soccer field and getting my foot stung by a bee. My 2nd attempt started better. I ran a mile or so, on a paved path. I was feeling pretty smug and anti-establishment as I passed an attractive pair of female runners; at which point I stubbed my right big toe and bled all over the nice paved path. I just turned 40 and for my 40th birthday I decided to do the Grand Slam. The grand slam is a series of 4 100 mile races about 3 weeks apart. I started this blog to document and share my journey.

I am a mom, ultrarunner, and running coach living in Texas. I ran my first 50 miler in May of 2006 and my first 100 miler in November of 2006. I have competed on the US National 24 Hour Team in 2008 and 2009. I love the spirit of the ultrarunning community and feel lucky to be a part of it.
