Lesedi is a Zulu name meaning The Light of the Community. We aim to live up to our name. Art show fundraiser event to support filmmaking workshops for teens at Lesedi Film Center. Think back to your youth. Was there an after-school or weekend program you were involved with that changed the direction of your life for the better? And as a child, or as a teen, was there a story you had inside you that you were eager to share? Let your inner child out to play a game.

Lesedi offers a variety filmmaking workshops to teens in communities of color in New York City. All our workshops are free to all participants. It is part of our mission to provide our students with a top notch education which includes hiring knowledgeable and experienced teaching artists and supplying state of the art equipment for video and sound recording, editing and digital distribution. Or by pledging a monthly contribution.
