On the 3rd of March we went on a marae stay, Discovery went on a waka experience at the lake front, when we got there we had to split into two groups. Before we could hop in the waka we had to put on a life jacket and get a paddle and learn paddle moves and when we completed we got to go on the waka. When we started we hit the wall, then we got of the wall we took. Then at the end we had a race back to shore, and we won of course.
At the marae we could play what ever we wonted to play like hand ball. cricket and Dodge ball and in hand ball I got some people out and I could only get to queen but I only got to king a couple of times and it was harder and harder to get king out. We all had a lot of fun on the Waka and I had a race on the water and the other people on the other Waka won the race to get back to the surface.
In early march, Rm 4 and other Discovery Academies went to Tunohopu Marae. I enjoyed paddling the waka because it was my first time and it was fun! There were 2 wakas at the lakefront. The man in charge taught us some chants as we paddled. I was wet and cold and my hands were tired. But it was an awesome experience! .
About 2 or 3 weeks ago Kaitao went to the Aquatics for our annual swimming day.

Wednesday, April 8, 2009. This is when we went to Noho marae. We left on the 23rd of march to the 25Th of march. When we got there we put our bags by the seats and waited for the lady to do the karinga. We walked behind Whaea Rea she done the karinga back. The Kaumatua said something in Maori. My friend Connor is the head boy of Kaitao middle school, he is a swimmer for New- Zealand but he is originally from America, North Carolina. He currently belongs to the Arawai swim club I only do occasional swimming every Friday. He also is very good at badminton I think he has represented NZ for that to.
