Stress starts a chain reaction in the body. It causes a chemical release that raises blood pressure, increases heart rate, increases breathing and perspiration, tenses muscles, and slows digestion among other things. Being relaxed has the opposite effect, setting off a chemical release that lowers blood pressure, lowers heart rate, slows breathing and perspiration, relaxes muscles, and increases digestion. Your body is either STRESSED or RELAXED! Health affected by Stress.
What happens during a RELAXATION SESSION? You will be asked to close your eyes while sitting comfortably to better allow yourself to relax while you are gently guided through relaxation techniques. In the process you learn the relaxation techniques that you can later use by yourself. The more practice your body gets relaxing the easier it will be to relax when you choose to.
