It was a long cold wait in the Zeiss hide for one of the bitterns to show itself in the reed bed but well worth it in the end. Wednesday, 14 December 2011. There is a pleasant walk from the hotel along the rocky coast, if the wind is in the right direction there can be spectacular waves breaking near the lighthouse. The tide was out so the mediterranean gulls were in the car park hoping for chips or sandwich handouts. The adults are in various stages of developing their summer plumage, a few nearly complete while others such as Stumpy below have barely started. Friday, 23 September 2011. And the other direction towards Tor. Then on to Port Eynon for lunch.CONTENT
