Fourth and Fifth Class. Thursday, 21 March 2013. Growing Tomatoes from Seed. We got some tomato seeds, compost, small fibre plant pots and some bamboo canes. We planted our Tomato seeds in the little pots and we watered them. We will keep them in the classroom. We also planted some basil. Our tomatoes are starting to grow. Snake spirals by Junior Infants. We drew a spiral on a paper plate. We painted our plates with our fingers. We cut out our spotty snakes and hung them over the radiators,. So that we could watch them wiggle. Snake spirals by Junior Infants.
Tuesday, 9 April 2013. Science Exhibition for Water Day of Action. We held a water science exhibition in the Community Centre on our Green Schools Day of Action. Every class did experiments on water and displayed them for the rest of the school. We learned lots and had fun. Making Lava Lamps with oil and water. Wednesday, 20 February 2013. Senior Infants investigated fruit and vegetables. Bananas, blueberries, oranges and apples.
Second class busy at work. Seodhna and Lucy experiment with the tails on the dogs. We experimented with leavers in science. We made a dog and by pulling its tail we made him stick out his tongue! Monday, 25 February 2013. We did some fun experiments learning about static energy. We worked with balloons and created static energy by rubbing the balloon off our hair and jumpers very quickly. Tuesday, 29 January 2013. Will it float or sink? We got a basin and we filled it with some water. We then got a rubber, coin, pencil and a match stick. We made guesses for each object. We tested them and recorded our results. The match stick floated! We found that a paper clip and a cork sank, but a yoghurt carton floated. We enjoyed this experiment! Monday, 28 January 2013. Monday, 8 April 2013. This is a photograph of a Primrose. Primroses grow wild in ditches, in gardens under hedges and in woodland areas. We have uploaded this photograph on the Greenwave site. This photograph was taken on Sunday 24th February 2013. We will inspect it again in a few days and take another photograph for you to see. As you can see it has lots of leaves on it.
