Tuesday, July 17, 2012. When I said goodbye to Rediscovering Jetta - I meant it. My life is full and almost unrecognizable. In a mostly good way. But I have something to say - and it demands a voice bigger than my own. That was the day my battle with Postpartum Depression began. An aspect of motherhood that is often glossed over is the drop in standard of appearance. I never knew what I was willing to put up with until at 8 weeks after birth, my uncombed hair turned into dreadlocks. I think my hairdresser cried when she worked on my hair. Now I sport a short hairstyle that takes 5 minutes to blow dry at most. As a mother now, what value do I pass onto my daughter about the concept of beauty? Because when she grows up, the world will do enoug.
