Cheshire Cat in Galapagos

Cheshire Cat in Galapagos. Wednesday, July 25, 2007. The mysterious Islands of the Galapagos. A face only a mother could love. 2005 and 2006 - we visited two times in Cheshire Cat. On our first visit we sailed from Bahia de Caraquez in Ecuador with Helen and Tabatha on board and in company with Susan and Chuy on Libre. The 6 day passage was a bit lumpy and Tabs was a rather bored as there wasnt a whole lot to do and watching the sea wasnt very inspiring either. Seals on the beach. A nearby shoreline we.

Cheshire Cat in Guadeloupe

Tuesday, June 26, 2007. Here we found a nice little French influenced town. There were narrow streets with no pavement. The small attractive bay and village. Frequently a house door opens directly onto the pavement, with a couple of feet of tile.

Halifax to Bermuda

Wednesday, June 27, 2007. Cheshire Cat and crew ready to sail on the high seas for the first time. The seas were pretty huge as well. It was at least three days before he felt better, and was really able to take his turn with boat work. Nick at the wheel, mostly recovered. When waves came into the cockpit the water came up to our knees - we frantically bailed it out as best we could using buckets. Later I discovered I had lost my lovely Tim H.

Cheshire Cat in Bequia

Sunday, June 24, 2007. Easter Regatta is an opportunity for the people from nearby islands to visit Bequia for the racing competitions and a big boisterous beach party. There are no engines on these boats, lots of enthusiastic manpower is needed to get them into the water. Local fishermen and families spent days and even weeks sprucing up their sturdy working boats, cleaning bottoms and painting the hulls in bright racing colours. The fishing boats are constructed in a single basi.

Cheshire Cat in Bermuda

Wednesday, June 20, 2007. Safe in Bermuda after our very first sea passage.
