Look up, see more stuff. Brightening up a dull day. Headed West then East, and all was New Year gloom. The ancient pulse of germ and birth was indeed shrunken hard and dry. The camera stayed at home because light was in short supply. Around the water treatment works were a string of monochrome cutouts, Redwings. Spooked out to just in fr.

Back to a standard morning with little variety on offer other than the nine species of Warbler seen today. First thing it was obvious a small fall of Willow Warblers. Had dropped in, but as usual as soon as the sun broke through the mist, pretty much all the birds departed the headland. Very little moving overhead today.

Souter Bird Observatory

It was a very windy morning with a force 5 gusting 6-7. The wind dropped by the afternoon and a few sheltered nets were opened. Photos were sent to Martin Garner for confirmation. Both Martin and Adam Hut agreed that it was a Northern Treecreeper. A much quieter day with only 10 new birds. A yellow-browed warbler was trapped on the second round. Wednesday, 27 August 2014.
