Bird news from Montgomeryshire, Wales . Foel A male has arrived, also one at Pwll Penarth. Wern 3 at garden feeders. One in private garden from 2nd but no sign on 4th. First returning bird of 2018 today. 2 in private garden today and Brambling.

Wednesday, 4 June 2014. He was laid to rest last week at Llanrhos after a service recalling his twitching, local birding and ringing jaunts. It was fitting that the area around the Church was buzzing with House Martins and Swallows. Our thoughts are with his family. May he rest in peace.

Further off, but with better light. Good call as it turned out. I stopped on Hugh Town beach for some Turnstones. Looking at the people on the quayside above. And this surprisingly pale Gannet. As dark drew near we saw more stormies and shearwaters, and Joe caught 3 blue sharks.

Saturday, 5 January 2013. Guted A perfect gull roost tonight at Chasewater with Glaucous, Iceland, Caspian and Med Gull, superb. I am sitting at home absolutely knackered and in shock. Knackered as worked all day tree felling and in shock because Derby have managed to beat a lower division side to get into the fourth round for the first time in god knows how many years.
