I had been to Waimea Bay a few times before during winter when the water was insanely rough. It was roped off to show that swimmers were not allowed in the water and the lifeguards were constantly patrolling to keep everyone safe from the large shore break. It was fun to sit on the sand and watch the powerful ocean but I would never have thought I would be swimming in that same bay! The Secret Mermaid Cave.
