The career of Sidney Poitier. In my opinion I feel as though Sidney Poitier has had a positive affect on African Americans in modern American film. Some argue that the roles Poitier played portrayed African Americans in the wrong way. Not necessarily bad, just stale, maybe even blank. This maybe true, but I feel that sometimes to make progress sacrifices must be made. Are these images still in existence? January 26, 2011.

I believe that if society was educated as we were on mass media and African American images throughout history and see how cruel and hateful we were to those who are different from us, it could give a better base for turning for the better and making this world not as segregated and divided. Knowing what has happened can help us push past it and into a more promising future of equality.
