Saturday, August 13, 2011. Oh myafter my first week of teaching I feel like I could sleep for days. It has certainly been an interesting week to say the least, and many things that I would have not expected. but I guess thats teaching for ya! Overall, I had a really great first week. I have a very chatty class so I am working on getting the talking and disruptions under control but I feel like that may come in time. Any suggestions from other great teachers out there? Friday, October 28, 2011. Bat and Pumpkin Nonfiction Unit. We began our nonfiction unit by learning about bats. After reviewing nonfiction text, the students completed a bubble map to recall all the things they knew about bats. Then as a class we listed all the things we knew about bats and all the things we wanted to learn. We read many bat books and recorded what we learned. After reading Scholastic News-In the Dark of the Night, the students drew a diagram of a bat. Ready Freddy is always a favorite! .
