Alexandra is situated 135 kilometres north-east of Melbourne via either the Maroondah or Melba Highways. The Timber Tramway is in Station Street, the last street on the eastern side of the town. Access from the main street is via either Bon or Vickery Streets. The site is also accessible from Downey Street just past the Mobil service station. The car park is on the northern side of the site.
