Saturday, April 2, 2011. And the ribbon goes to. As many of you know I submit pieces to the Needlework show at Woodlawn Plantation in Alexandria, Virginia every year. This week I took a day off from school to go down and see the 48th Annual exhibit. It was amazing! I love having the opportunity to see what kinds of pieces everyone has been working on.
Why yes, I did think it was a good idea to make friends with my new pressure cooker on the coldest day of the year when we have no water. Some days my husband would tell me my decision-making process is flawed. Today is probably one of those days. It is cold as all get out here. Not five feet of snow cold but cold none the less. Nature is the best source of inspiration and relaxation. I am sorry for taking so much time before coming back to my stitching. Reorganization ended up with a life of its own. My original intent degenerated into a real monstruosity and I am still not done, but a wonderful project came up and I just had to make time for it. I am so excited about it.

A place to see what I am doing or not doing. I made another creative decision on the bird bodies I made sure the stitches were slanted the same on both sides. I guess I should say I reversed the direction of stitches for one side. Whatever, I did it and it was a conscious decision. I think bird wings and sides are going to be the most fun, but probably the most labor intensive.

Sunday, August 2, 2015. Nutcracker Christmas - The Finale. My labor of love is finished- all two feet of it! Moving the canvas on the stretcher bars one last time, I worked the nutcrackers mustache and beard in French knots. Three strands of Burmilana were used with one wrap around the needle to create a higher profile against his face and tunic. The final touch- a plume for his helmet!
