We are located West of the Pecos and raising tough,. My first mid size heifer. The commercial cow on the left had a huge bag, gave 8 gallons of milk, was 50 at the hip and ate a TON of grain and hay. The midsize grass fed cow on the right is 45 at the hip, medium size bag, gives 3 gallons a day, and requires no grain at all. She eats about one large round bale of coastal hay in one month and 2 chips of alfalfa when she is milked.
