Thar desert on two wheels - DAY 0. Tuesday, September 11, 2007. At 2000 hrs we were at Shahpura, Just 60 kms before Jaipur. The total distance is 200 kms approx. 8211; start ride with your tank full in Delhi itself, as fuel is cheaper here than Haryana and Rajasthan.
Thar desert on two wheels - DAY 1. Tuesday, September 11, 2007. Via Chomu, Sikar, Bikaner, Pokhran. This was our RTDC resthouse at Shahpura. Take right for NH-11 from NH-8 at Shahpura. The railway line runs parallel to the highway for few kilometres. So stuff yourself before the take-off. It was 1500 hrs when we touched NH- 15. The route seemed quite borin.
Thar desert on two wheels - DAY 2. Wednesday, September 12, 2007. Checked out of hotel and reached to the fort of Jaisalmer. The only living fort of India. Still locals live in the fort. Jaisalmer fort - the only living fort of India. Pretty faces of the fort.
Thar desert on two wheels - DAY 3. Wednesday, September 12, 2007. Out resthouse at Desert national park. Reached early at Sam dunes while returning. We cant afford our trip without the camel ride on dunes, so as soon as we parked our bike, again many people approached us like the previous day. We bargained and managed one camel for both of us in just Rs. Hrithik roshan n my bike . Trip meter - 1666 kms.
Thar desert on two wheels - LAST DAY. Tuesday, September 11, 2007. Via Sikar, Chomu, Shahpura, Gurgaon. Left Ratangarh, the small beautiful town. We and our babe were now habitual of high speed at this highway. Kept on ripping and taking butt and photo breaks. Had lunch at a dhaba after crossing Shahpura on our pet NH-8. It was around 1700 hrs we were on ring road near Dhaula kuan. Trip metre - 2166 kms.
