Some pictures of the natural world around Sussex as seen on my daily dog walks. Friday, 14 August 2015. This is the rhododendron leafhopper, graphocephala fennahi. It was introduced into Europe from the USA in the early 1900s. This one is an adult. Both adult and nymph feed on the sap of rhododendron bushes. So it is one of the very few pests of rhododendrons. Some people would say we could do with a few more! The pond skater, gerris lacustris.
The two elephant garlic bulbs I harvested in July had 24 little bulbils attached around their bases. On Thursday I sowed these bulbils into small pots. I will be able to tell from the results I get which technique works best. Tuesday, 21 July 2015. Thursday, 9 July 2015. Wednesday, 1 July 2015. It looked ready so up it came.

Petra would like to say a fond farewell to all her friends - especially Skip, Rumble, Skye, Lily and Wilma. Doug says bye to all the owners and to the happy wanderer. Keep a look-out for us though.
