Friday, July 31, 2015. Last summer, I read a great blog post about why you should NOT use a clip chart in your classroom. You can find this blog post HERE. Now, being a music teacher that DOES. First, each class has a clip at the bottom of the chart. Each one of these clips is actually a little magnet for a refrigerator, but they were so bright and colorful I just had to use them for this.
After nearly three months off of teaching to enjoy our beautiful little baby girl, I have begun to get the teaching bug! That, and I return full-swing back into my classroom in December.

Monday, 20 July 2015. I did a super simple partner composition activity with my grade 2 and 3 students and by just spontaneously calling it a secret handshake rather than a body percussion composition, the kids were sooooooooo excited! It also led to some very interesting and creative compositions. In pairs, students write an 8 beat rhythm pattern two measures using ta, ta-a, ti-ti, rest, andor ti-ka-ti-ka.
