As gardeners, we intuitively know there is a time for renewal. There is definite life cycle, sprout, seedling, production, decline, then finally off to the compost heap. Almost two years ago, I started with two blogs, A Midwest Garden. And I Hope You Are Hungry. I have enjoyed every minute of every post, but at times found myself off track and off topic.

Bendigo Sheep and Wool Show. Oh my what an excellent day at the Australian Sheep and Wool Show. I think I spent about 5 minutes admiring the very pretty sheep and 5 hours ogling the rainbow of yarns, knitwear and haberdashery. This beautiful little woven basket? I was given it! I think the lovely ladies from the Basketmakers of Victoria. Could tell I was just a little enthusiastic about the idea of joining up with their local north east group! July 14, 2014.

Friday, November 18, 2016. the longer I wait between posts, the longer my posts become. So thank you, Cindy, for the reminder to keep on writing. Ideally I would like to write frequent, short posts. Next on the To-Do list was to make a batch of soap. Washing soapy pots and utensils uses a fair bit of water and when we are heating pots of clean water on the stove for each load of dishes.
Fig Jam and Lime Cordial. Living well in the urban village. 100g ripe, bubbly sourdough starter. 120g unsalted butter, melted and cooled.
A diary of life at a hobby-farm home. Food Storage on a Budget. Combine the dehydrated starter with 1 T flour and 1 T water in a quart-size glass jar and stir thoroughly with a non-metal spoon. Cover the jar with a coffee filter and store in a warm place for 12-24 hours. After 12-24 hours, add 2 T of flour and 2 T water. The starter should have the consistency of pancake batter, add more flour or water if necessary. After 12-24 hours, add C of flour and C water.
