My first hour or so out of the house was an opportunity for my 6 year old daughter to stretch her legs in a local playground a few hundred yards from our base in Lake City. Next up overhead the dark form of a turkey vulture gliding around, closely followed by several more and a black vulture in tow. In one of the trees at the playground another mo.

This bird was causing a bit of a stir and turning a few heads a moulty white headed Ruff but it stood out from the rest. The Black-tailed Godwits were also in heavy moult but this one was quite presentable.

After months not visiting the hides at Big Waters for various reasons I finally got myself back into gear and spent a few hours relaxing in the spring sunshine. While my visits were relatively short and sweet I did see some of my favourite birds, the chiffchaff, wren and my first yellowhammer.

I seem to remember that the previous hide had double glazed windows that didnt open.i found the experience strange! Waders at Hauxley OMG. One of the young uns.
