Simply stated, I love living in Hawaii. There are countless reasons for my affection for the islands and one of those is the abundance of cultural activities that can be enjoyed without having to leave the little rock that I call home. The fishpond showed me firsthand how what happens in the uplands affects things in the low lands. As we were walking in the smelly mud of the black water on the rim of the pond, the man mentioned that the bottom of the fishpond is actually supposed to be sand and coral.
