The great sage Vasishtha was the son of Brahma. He was a great scholar. Sage Parashara was the grandson of Vasishtha. He too was a great Scholar. A son was born to Parashara in Sathyavathi. Initially he was known as Krishna Dwaipayana. This boy later became famous as Veda Vyasa. The ideas contained in Vedas were too sophisticated for the ordinary people.
