All the indications are that she was intentionally contaminated with a massive dose of radioactive material by an unknown person or persons from Keer-McGee in early November 1974. In addition to the personal health concerns associated with being contaminated, her decontamination was brutal and radiological cleanup of her home left it a shambles.

Saturday, November 13, 2010. Pediastrum reproduces asexually by producing autocolonies. During asexual reproduction the cell contents divide and form motile spores that arrange themselves into colonies before being liberated. Sexual reproduction is by motile gametes. Apparently, these things can reproduce at an extreme rate. These things are delicious and every one like them. If you dont like lobster then your missing out.

When leaves fall from plants, and especially trees, it creates a layer of leaves on the floor of the area around the plants called leaf litter. When leaf litter decomposes it creates CO2 and other minerals which are absorbed into the soil. This means that leaf litter decomposition is a major contributing factor to how rich in nutrients the soil is in a given area.

Monday, November 29, 2010. For our lab on November 11th, we went to Hitchiti Experimental Forest in north Macon. We discussed several aspects of the environment in this area and certain species that have an affect on the ecosystem. The Southern Pine Beetle, or Dendroctonus frontalis. Leaf litter decomposition contributes a large portion of the nutrients necessary for a forest ecosystem. Leaves are broken down into organic materials that enrich the soil for plant growth.
