He had a condition known as Cushings and we just could not keep weight on him. The onset of cooler weather was going to be too difficult for him. Our pasture is going to be empty without him and I will miss him. He was a beauty with an attitude. He was special and unique. Saturday, May 30, 2015.

Monday, July 4, 2016. Earlier this year, I saw a frog sunning itself on some fallen reeds. I liked the abstract pattern of the reeds in the shallow water and the fairly limited color scheme of the scene. I often look for patterns like this in nature. They make for interesting painting compositions. It seems to blend in with so many other ordinary things. And then, sometimes, sometimes people pass over you.

A couple of quick pheasant preliminary sketches that will soon become full drawings. I quite enjoy these little sketches. They are a great help in seeing whether the finished drawing will work without spending hours knee deep in detail. I seem to have a lot of drawings planned - a third pheasant, two barn owls, another swaledale. I now need to get going with them! Saturday, 8 December 2012. My washing up liquid had frozen!
