Respond ReNUH also help to run a Child Sponsorship Program for the children of the Child Mothers with the Income Generating Activity Program. Sponsors are found in Hungry through our partner African Hungarian Union. The sponsors commit to paying the school fees of a child for two years. Respond ReNUH handle all the administration on the ground and facilitate for communications between the child and the sponsor. All 67 children of the ladies in the Income Generating Activity currently have sponsorship.
IGAP works to help and empower some of the most vulnerable women in society, firstly through providing employment and secondly by helping them to develop their own businesses. When a person earns a wage it helps to build self esteem and confidence. We believe this to be more beneficial than providing handouts which encourages a culture of dependency. It is hoped that through enabling the members to earn an income for themselves that the benefit will be sustainable.
Beatrice was captured at age nine while walking home from school. By the time she was thirteen, she had been given to two different commanders as a wife and had given birth to her daughter Mercy.
