Raccoons and Other Furry Wildlife

Last evening we were taking a drive through all the newly built area across the inlet from where we live, and I no longer think our place is. I look forward to adding photos. A second animal living in the woods next to us that has been too elusive for photographic capture is the bobcat. September 17, 2008. If you see the , shown below, on the highway, or local street, may I suggest it is not the best part of our forests to use for a pit stop into the bushes. While taking the following two shots.

Local Wildlife

Our family has a varied interest in Hummers. To see the type we find most entertaining. Among the many American Crows. Who would love to steal food from the small birds and squirrels in the yard, there is an unusual striped crow. Here, at the higher elevation, we also hear more ravens. Which I find interesting based upon local Indian folklore. The only photos I have are not close enough for good identification. Is attached to the photo at lef.

Woodpeckers

Saturday, November 25, 2006. At right looking to see what the Pileated had been interested in on the pole. At left and below, the Pileated Woodpecker. As you can see, we have the red shafted version in our area. Today DH saw the Northern Flickers doing their courting dance for the first time. Three photos of Northern Flickers.

Miscellaneous Passerines

Monday, December 31, 2007. The crow at left is a special treat for us. There is a family of white marked crows, and this one is the most interesting of designs. At our old home, the Evening. They became quite brave this past year, but disappeared with the colder weather. We look forward to their return. At left is a male Evening Grosbeak.

Hummingbirds

Saturday, May 5, 2007. Raccoons and Other Furry Wildlife.

Wheres Dinner

Peaches and Cream Prize! Steep hill. Watch for traffic on two feet, left.

The Edge of the Precipice

Book reviews by a Christian writer, wife, and mother. Wednesday, August 12, 2015. Cried Robin to the Miller; whereupon he turned slowly, with the weight of the bag upon his shoulder, and looked at each in turn all bewildered.

We Cook Too Much

Wednesday, August 12, 2015. Bulgar, Cherry, and Cranberry Pilaf. A nice side dish using Bulgar wheat instead of rice. In other words, a good way to use up the Bulgar wheat you bought to try some exotic recipe. Make it in the summer when cherries are cheap. Bulgar, Cherry, and Cranberry Pilaf. 1 cup Fresh cherries - halved and pitted. 12 oz Plain Greek yogurt.
