Finding Joy and Strength in Defeating Our Fears. Three years ago I experienced a spontaneous, once-in-a-life-time offer to dog-sled in Alaska. A young couple homesteading outside of Fairbanks invited a group of us to stop by after a conference where I facilitated. As is typical for me, my anxieties almost caused me to pass up this invitation without giving it much thought. And, due to fear, we likely also walk away from experiences that could actually be good for us.
