Monday, June 15, 2009. FInal Design- Model and Drawings. One of my favourite elements of this site is its long, narrow, linear nature. I therefore designed a space that embodied these elements through the use of long and narrow spaces. The long and narrow space of the apartment is mimicked in the space below in the courtyard and office area and the roof. It also shows the materiality, note the reflective foyer floors and grey tile courtyard. This image shows the skylight system for the exhibition space, as well as the rooving. Monday, June 15, 2009. The ascension to the floating kitchen creating a link between the gallery space and the studio apartment. The louvers which draw in and dissipate the light evenly within the gallery space. Emphasis on the curvature of the building is expressed through the use of copper which will change colour over time, as the building ages.
