ARTIST IN RESIDENCE Badlands National Park. Monday, April 25, 2011. After collecting Nick from the airport we continued west to the Grand Tetons. Between the Badlands and the Tetons lies a 10,000ft mountain pass and luckily, despite 10ft of snow, the pass was open. In less than an hour the car developed a brown shaggy icicle beard and whilst others whizzed passed in heated cars wearing t-shirts we trembled along under blankets, thermals and down jackets. We were rewarded with spectacular views.

a land of ice

I look very ghoulish lately. I sort of like it. Funny story- about ten minutes after this picture was taken a young man asked us for a ride home. We agreed to give him one as long as he was aware that I had a knife in my purse that was shaped like a lipstick that I bought at the Vallejo Gun Show, and I would use it on him if he tried anything funny. I also took a photo of his ID so the cops would know who killed us.
