Sunday, May 31, 2009. About a month ago, Pavel and I started going on weekend day trips. Our first was to Akko, a coastal city north of Haifa. Akko is notable for several reasons. In 1798, Napolean unsuccessfully laid seige on the city. In the picture below, you can see part of the protective wall that surrounds the old city.

Wednesday, June 17, 2009. Jerusalem, We Hardly Knew Ye. The past three days one day removed marked what will probably be my last trip to Jerusalem- by many accounts the worlds holiest city. I had two big ticket items on my agenda to go up to the Temple Mount and to check out the Israel Museum. Both goals were accomplished and were as amazing as I had hoped. In the 7th and 8th centuries, respectively, under Muslim rule, the Dome of the Rock and Al Aqsa Mosque were constructed. A very impressive site.CONTENT
