Artist Statement

Wednesday, May 18, 2011. I was sucked into the pottery studio by the rhythm of the work, the thrill of getting filthy, and the living smell of the clay. I love that potting is equal parts physical work, intellectual work, and artistic work. All of my glazes are non-toxic, lead-free, and food-safe. All pottery is dishwasher and microwave safe. Pieces can also be used for baking in the oven. You can even crack Pyrex that way.

Wednesday, August 28, 2013. Environmental Sustainability at Pate Ceramics. The settling tub gets a good stir, and then the clay slop is laid out on a plaster wedging board to dry. After about a day, the plaster has soaked up enough excess water that the clay can be used to throw more pots.
