The Oldest Living Things in the World

The Oldest Living Things in the World. A Second Chance at the Chestnut of 100 Horses. In September of 2010 I visited the Castagno dei 100 Cavalli. For the first time. It was the height of Mediterranean summer, over-ripe, really, and the Castagno. Moss on the Castagno, 2012. Since I was returning to Europe to install my exhibition at the Staatliche Kunsthalle Baden-Baden. I took a cue from the death of the Senator Tree. Earlier this year, and decided to seize this opportunity to return to the Castagno.

My newest book, The Inevitable. My current passion this year is all Asia. I am finishing up a huge, huge book of my documentary photographs of the disappearing traditions of Asia, between Turkey and Japan. I will try to get to the few remaining countries of Asia that I have not yet visited. The still-untitled book should be published in 2018. Three years ago I published my first fiction, The Silver Cord. I worked on it for 11 years! This site operates under a Creative Commons License.
