Tuesday, November 12, 2013. On our way to Mokau from Hamilton it just so happened that it was the day before whitebait season started. These guys were setting up their stands and moth nets. The hills opposite the whitebait stands and river. Mokau back beach, driftwood heaven. Driftwood shack, back beach, Mokau.
Every year, around about September, millions of individual birds from approximately forty different species leave their breeding grounds in the Arctic, fly through East Asia, and arrive on the coast of Australia. Every year, around about April, they fly back again.
