We made the decision to let our sweet old girl go on April 4th. Birdie had kidney disease for months, but in the final week of March the disease finally began taking its toll on her little 15 year old body. Just a month before that, our cat Gus died suddenly of congestive heart failure. Thank you for letting me share my life .

An Exploration Of Art and Creativity. Monday, November 30, 2009. Songwriting Is A Doing Word. Songwriting is a doing word. This phrase has been running around inside of me for about five months now. It has marked the beginning of my return to songwriting, my renewed foray into my creative space, which had long been dusty and mis-placed. I may have heard it somewhere, but I am fairly certain it one of those divine relations, right words, right time to help me on my way.

Monday, April 2, 2007. The Kenyan secondary school curriculum is standardized. The English book, for instance, goes so far as to dictate which lessons should be taught every week of the year. Any deviation from the prescribed national syllabus is strictly prohibited. But sometimes even within such a restricted educational regiment, kernels of creativity show up.

On January 12, 2009, I will depart for Mongu, Zambia. Once there, I will manage the construction of a community organized school in Limulunga. The following entries are notes from my travels.
