Very pleasantly surprised at the number of people who came to the carol service last night. Shows what a difference it makes when you enlist the children. It was fascinating to see how unabashed the children were. Frequently they tend to be a bit overawed by old church buildings and especially by performing in them. But most of us were far too young to have known anything of world wars beyond the reminiscences of our parents. Undoubtedly we all came for our own disparate reasons.
