I had wanted to write as long as I can remember. In college, my favorite activities were listening to history lectures and writing research papers. Everything seemed to come together when I discovered the joys of genealogy a few years ago. By participating in a genealogy certificate program and a local, very unique, writing seminar, I was able to build skills and collaborative friendships that will last a lifetime.

I was born in the San Francisco Bay Area. I loved the night lights of the Golden Gate, but always longed for something more than steel and pavement. My mother told me many stories of her childhood on a Minnesota farm, and I listened with great interest. Recently, my sense of loss over Norwegian-American relatives who filled my early years led me to genealogy. In family history, I have found a perfect life-long pursuit and purpose.
