Monday, May 14, 2012. I have seen these before, but never in central mass. They are so big and beautiful. Great Egret! I thought maybe it was a white phased Great Blue Heron, and I guess there is still some debate on that, but from what I could find, they are their own classification. One strong memory I have of these is sitting next to a small vernal pool on my honeymoon with my wife watching the newts slowly bob to the surface. Saturday, May 10, 2008. Wednesday, July 8, 2009. These can be found all throughout the United States. They are generally shy but are becoming more accustomed human interaction. This one was going after my tomato plants last summer. I had a much larger one in my lawn about a month earlier. Sunday, November 23, 2008. A rodent with short strong legs and tons of quills. They prefer a diet of berries and tree bark. They are able to climb trees due to their soft paws and sharp claws. Sunday, June 22, 2008.
