Morags Musings

Thursday, January 18, 2018. This year I had a somewhat crazy idea. I decided all of my grade 9 English students, as part of my ELA course, were going to write a novel. This idea originated by reading a post by George Couros on Medium entitled - Would you read what your students write if you werent paid to do so? And it got me thinking. Could my grade nine students write an entire novel? How would it fit into my teaching outcomes? How much time would it take? And slowly a plan. Creating A Book Trailer.

In Lieu of Lunch Reflections on Educational Technology

Posted by Michael McVey in General Comment. At the same time, would a beloved teacher still carry the electronic version with him 25 years later? Would the student have withered under the critiques of scores of anonymous readers and turned away from a literary career? July 25, 2011.

Beyond Classroom Tech Tips. Learning and Technology

The past week flew by in a blur as I gave and attended workshops. First, I gave the school-based technology boot camp written about earlier, which was nicely followed by a full day with Sheryl Nussbaum-Beach. Clearly articulated the need for pedagogical change and a focus on digital literacies. The next two days I spent delivering half-day workshop on.

Monday, June 6, 2011. Recently I did a class that had a residency at the Artscape Gibraltor Point on Toronto Island with Tara Cooper. The class was super cool and I got to camp in the rain for a week. Thankfully I had the mother of all tents. Anyway the first project was called the suitcase project and we had to take a bunch of different collections from the Island using our environment as our influence and inspiration.
