Chapter 1 of my 3rd novel, a sequel to the first one, SLYDE. Slyde and the old man had to lope along at a steady jog to keep up with the dog. They were on a well-traveled road and the dog had his nose to the ground, sometimes sweeping this way and that, but always at a good clip. Slyde noticed the dog slow a bit and adjusted his gait as well. The old man, bringing up the rear also slowed.
