Sydney is our beautiful little girl born in 2004. Sydney was born with Treacher-Collins Syndrome. In September 2008, she underwent the first of three ear reconstruction surgeries under the care of Dr. John Reinisch at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. Her final surgery took place in May 2009. This blog is a chronicle of that journey. Wednesday, December 23, 2009. Sunday, July 26, 2009. No more earrings for now. Tuesday, April 14, 2015. We recently took Miles to McAllen, TX to compete in the State Scholastic Grade Championships. He did very well, losing only the first two games and then going on the win the next 5 in a row. His best performance at a weekend tournament this size yet. After the tournament, we rented a cottage in Corpus Christi and had a 3 day vacation to do some beach time and sight seeing. He ended up tying for 9th place and came in 29th out of 150.
Wednesday, October 3, 2012. Robbie had his fracture repair surgery on June 7th again in LA. Everything went well and he recovered and bounced back really fast. Things have been going really good and we are hoping for the best with this implant and continue to move forward. Robbie goes to the ENT for his first cleaning since the surgery and a hearing test. Keeping our fingers crossed that his hearing is the same or better. Tuesday, March 6, 2012.
Thursday, December 27, 2007. May 2007 - Ear Doing Great. Here we are 7 weeks post Stage 2 Medpor surgery and the ear is looking great. It also said " Last Fall, we finally got a loaner hearing aid for Miles to try out. Actually, we got two. He got to try a BAHA and a BCHA for a total of 3 months. A BAHA is a bone anchored hearing aid. You can either wear it on a softband or get a permanent implant so it attaches to your skull.
