As it was quite windy it was an obvious choice to introduce the group to the idea of trim. Trim is were you position the weight in the boat so that it remains easier to control in windy conditions. The simplest way to explain it is while paddling into the wind have your weight forward and your weight back when paddling down wind. We also had a look at the draw stroke and started looking at different ways to turn our boats.

Monday, February 18, 2013. Last year we had no winter at all to speak of and this year we seem to be in the throws of a schizophrenic one here. I know many people like less winter but I grew up when younger in the Berkshires where 2 feet of snow is a fairly regular occurrence so I want cold, snowy storms. Especially here on the ocean where we get next to no snow.

Friday, December 16, 2011. I adopted a couple of kittens a while back. The first is Ginger, a very pretty calico, about 5 months old. She was maybe about two weeks when we found her. Her eyes were not quite open and I had to bottle feed her. She is a very healthy, happy kitten of about 3 months. Wednesday, January 26, 2011.
