While researching the Mawbey family, I found the name had been spelt in many different ways by early Australian officials. The most common variant was Mawby. As there was a separate Mawby line, I decided to look at it too in case there were any family connections. Mawbys were the earliest in Queensland, and Mawbeys in NSW and Victoria.
