O consumo regular de comida picante estaria associado à longevidade e a um risco menor de contrair câncer, doenças coronarianas ou respiratórias. É o que aponta um estudo chinês publicado pela revista britânica BMJ. A pimenta, contém capsaicina que, segundo os coordenadores da pesquisa, também ajudaria a combater a obesidade, além de ter efeitos anti-inflamatórios, antioxidantes e contra o câncer.
